P = Pullover 🧶 #AtoZchallenge 2021[Quilt]

Challenge de A à Z 2021 et #AtoZchallenge2021Quilt : la lettre P
#AtoZchallenge2021 and #AtoZchallenge2021Quilt: letter P

Every day during the whole month of April except Sundays, I write a post starting with each letter of the alphabet. This year my theme is, in the textile universe, about upcycling, recycling and repurposingLots of good easy DIY ideas!
And you can play too! See below.
♻️♻️♻️♻️♻️

P is for pullover, or sweater.
Who doesn't have an old sweater that's become too thin, or moth-eaten, or too small, or... well, you know what I mean. For today, no special technique: take the sweater as it is, cut, sew or glue, and it's done!
If you have washed a sweater too hot so it has shrunk and the wool has felted, don't throw it away either! There will be recycling ideas on 27 April for the letter "W  for wool" 😉

De grand à petit / From big to small

I propose you to make a tour among the multiple possibilities of recycling a sweater, as I had done for the T-shirts, according to the surface of the material to recover.
Let's start with the largest repurposing surface:

Un pull entier / A whole sweater

A basket for your pet! Isn't it cute?

Recycling a sweater is also modifying it to be able to wear it again!

Le corps du pull / The center of the sweater

Your sweaters are too small but still beautiful, or you simply don't want to wear them anymore but you still love them. Why not turn them into a decorative object?
For these projects, cut off the sleeves (put them aside if they are nice) and keep the "body" of the sweater.

To always have them with you, nothing better than a bag 😊:

Avec les manches de pulls / With the sleeves of sweaters

And finally, there are only a few pieces left to recover from a sweater? Perfect, you can still use it, and upcycle it into nice little gifts!!

Fantastique! ;^)

  2. Wow, there are some lovely ideas here. I can't wait to try a sweater bag!

  3. Such cute cute ideas! Love the handbags and the lampshades made of sweaters. :D

  4. A dear friend sent me her favorite cashmere upcycle: she cuts up the sweater, then serges the sleeves and body smaller = armlets and a neck cowl. I sometimes wear the cowl as a mini skirt!

The cozy gift is my favorite.

  5. These are great ideas! I also saw a You Tube video a while back where a guy bought good quality sweaters from the thrift store and then just unraveled them to harvest the wool for his knitting! So many ways to re-use these!!

  6. The yellow pot cover is simply delightful. As it the sunshine seat cover next to it.
I once shrunk a favourite sweater! Have no idea what I did with it. Maybe, it's lying somewhere to be rescued by your 'w' post:)

  9. I've got a couple of jumpers that have shrunk since last year - at least that's what I tell myself - and I think they'll make excellent cushion covers!

  10. So many cute ideas here. I’ve salvaged many to make pumpkins with last year but now have more ideas. Love the wine bottle and gift bag ideas.

  11. Fun ideas, and for the leftover bits I really like the idea of using them as package wraps. My sister-in-law felts from old wool clothing and now I'm a huge fan as well.

  12. amazing suggestions, I really do love your blog..

  13. The cat bed's a nice use! My cats would love it if an old sweater became theirs! They already have some of my throws, in addition to 6 or 7 cat beds!

  14. Love the cushions. I have several old sweaters I'm reluctant to throw away. Maybe I'll make a couple cushions from them.

  15. Until now, I've never considered repurposing my old sweaters. But your unique ideas have my mind swirling with possibilities.

  16. Some interesting ideas. I would be more prone to knit something in the shape of those than use an old sweater. But I have so few sweaters. (It doesn't get cold enough here for me to need them all that often.)

  17. Great ideas. I have a sweater I was going to give away, but I am going to make some pillows.

  18. Another great batch. I like the ottoman and purse ideas. I lay them in the cat beds for an extra warm cushion.

  19. You've given me some great ideas for what to do with my sweaters. I love those lampshades and cushions. I don't wear sweaters much since moving to Arizona three years ago. I need to clear them out of my closet.

  20. What a wonderful list of ideas in this post. I've always loved sweater pillows although never thought to create one myself. I'll have to give that a try. I like the bracelets too - so easy and quick! Weekends In Maine

  21. Truly you have many lovely ideas but how many bags do you possess or do you gift them?

  22. Thank you for so many great ideas, it's like a whole world opening up! I have an old worn out sweater in my favourite green colour that I have not been able to throw away. Was thinking of making a scarf of it with some embroidery in contrasting colours, but that never happened. Perhaps I can use some of these ideas instead!

  23. Wow, I love these pullover hacks! So many excellent uses for recycled knits. I agree with those who have said it's a whole new world opening up. Bookmarking this post for after A to Z :-) https://mollyscanopy.com/2021/04/p-is-for-peg-my-mulitasking-mom-atozchallenge/#comments
