Every day during the whole month of April except Sundays, I write a post starting with each letter of the alphabet. This year my theme is, in the textile universe, about upcycling, recycling and repurposing. Lots of good easy DIY ideas!
And you can play too! See below.

O is for old shirt (yes I know, I cheated a bit with the letter 😇)
Out of fashion, winter shirts, summer shirts, they can still be used!

How about recycling a shirt to make a coat for your favorite pet?
This tutorial shows how to make a custom coat.
Quilts
Voici quelques exemples de quilts faits avec des chemises :Often quilts are an opportunity to keep the memory of objects, or people. Make a quilt of shirts to celebrate a retirement, make a more "masculine" gift, or honor the memory of a loved one. Here are some examples of quilts using shirts:

I like the apron and dog coat. It probably is rather boring, but I have been chopping up the Hub's old business shirts for covid masks.
RépondreSupprimerLike many, I've piled on the weight over the last year, and I have several shirts that are now far too small! However, I don't think I have the necessary skills to be as creative with them as you!
RépondreSupprimerOh, these pretty pretty things! Love the bag,the pouch, the cushion covers, and the pet coat. Love them.
RépondreSupprimerMy partner has so many fabric handbags I would be tempted to make an old shirt out of them - I would then be "in the bag!"
RépondreSupprimerCue rim shot. :-D
SupprimerThe shirts-into-bags are all very cute! The shirt-into-apron is nice.
RépondreSupprimerI do a lazy version of the shirt-apron for my art studio apron. I have the back of the shirt covering my lap and tie the sleeves around my waist. No sewing required! Haha.
I've seen a post about making a quilt out of nostalgic tee shirts. I want to make one for my boyfriend out of band tees. Maybe this year?

Great way to reuse old shirts.
RépondreSupprimerIt is incredible what people with sewing skills can do! Love the repurposing ideas for old shirts, the bag looks amazing, and just imagine you still have the same shirt in better condition, you can wear both at the same time!
RépondreSupprimerHappy Weekend!

I wish I had some of my dads shirts, these would be awesome things to make.
RépondreSupprimerCute purse with the shirt pockets still in place! Adorable baby bibs... BUT, they should NOT have the buttons still on! Turn your back for a second to get a spoon, and a baby could easily get a button into his or her mouth and choke.
RépondreSupprimerI would love to receive any of these as gifts. Such creativity!
RépondreSupprimerThe wine bags with ties make a great novel gift. The black and red plaid tote bag is my favorite. You are very creative and remarkably ambitious.

Those are some good ideas. I like the bags.
RépondreSupprimerI've seen the shirt pillows and quilts as a way to remember a loved one that you've lost. I think it's a great idea. Weekends In Maine
RépondreSupprimerIs it strange that I think the plaid shirts look better as bags than shirts? :D

You can do a lot with an old shirt. I love all of those plaid bags!
RépondreSupprimerSo pretty.

Wow! such lovely ideas. I love to wear old and worn shirts. As summers are very hot and humid in Doha, older shirts are better to wear and by the time I'm done with them, they're only good enough to be turned into rags:)
RépondreSupprimerLove the repurposed old shirts/clothes. So creative. Particularly love the shirt-and-tie wine holders! https://mollyscanopy.com/2021/04/orange-juice-can-curlers-and-on-the-roof-suntans-atozchallenge/#comments
RépondreSupprimerles chaussons sont rigolos!
RépondreSupprimerWhat amazing things you can do with an old shirt !!! I loved the slippers and of course the wine bottle bags . I am now more keen than ever to get my needle threader so that I can get my sewing machine working
RépondreSupprimerOh boy, even more things to do with shirts!! Loving these ideas! The wine bottle holders with the ties are hilarious!
RépondreSupprimerI am currently working on a quilt made of all my husband's old dress shirts, but I'm just using the fabric -- I love these projects that keep the pockets and collars and plackets! (By the way, I've tried to join the Linky Party and it just won't take my Instagram for some bizarre reason. So I'm sorry I haven't been joining you in that.)
RépondreSupprimerBlack and White: O for Oz
I would love to see photos of your quilt! Sorry about the link party, it's only open for 24 hours.
SupprimerI love the wine gift bag idea, have to remember that one next time I'm about to throw away a shirt! The apron is very original too. I think my husband needs to look out that his shirts will not go missing! ;-)
RépondreSupprimerSo many ideas here... love all the ones made with shirts. I have so many things I'd like to make, but never enough time.
