#AtoZchallenge2021 and #AtoZchallenge2021Quilt: letter N

Every day during the whole month of April except Sundays, I write a post starting with each letter of the alphabet. This year my theme is, in the textile universe, about upcycling, recycling and repurposingLots of good easy DIY ideas!
And you can play too! See below.

N comme necktie, ou cravate.
Les vieilles cravates, celles qui sont un peu usées, tâchées ou plus à la mode, restent au fond du placard. C'est dommage parce qu'elles sont souvent en soie, ou en tissus originaux.

N is for necktie.
The old ties, the ones that are a little worn, stained or no longer in fashion, remain in the back of the closet. It's a pity because they are often made of silk, or original fabrics.

Wow! Amazing. I don't have too many unused ties. But this post gives me wonderful ideas.

That first bag is wonderful. I've bookmarked it so the next time The Hub is going to toss one of his ties I can create something for myself :)

The quilts are the best! I thought I loved the bag and the skirt, but then the quilts arrived, and that's it. So colorful and vibrant. :D

The quilts with neckties? Oh my goodness!
I have a boxful from a friend who ditched his corporate job. Maybe a quilt will happen!

Ok, love the glasses case and necktie zipper pouch. The little mini quilt of "vests" is just too cute and that last quilt is stunning! Once again, it is astounding to think about how much "material" is out there for re-use and most people probably never think about using it.

Love the whirling dervish in the middle of all those reused ties. Cool ideas--once gain.

I never would have thought to use neckties for any sort of crafting.

I can't remember the last time there was a necktie in my house! I like the quilts. Ties can be had for nearly nothing at yard sales. For some reason thrift stores seem to think they are valuable. I guess some cost a lot new, but still...

Such great ideas. I like the quilt with the little vests the best.

This is the most creative repurposing I've seen yet. Thrift stores have oodles of old ties.

Once again, creativity abounds... so many ideas!! We usually just donate my husband's old ties. I've never considered anything else to do with them.

I once saw a collection of neckties in a Toronto museum of textiles. Hundreds of ties of every color imaginable, arranged by gradually changing colors like a rainbow, all hanging side by side on two walls. It was amazing.

Many years ago I collected a whole bunch of old neckties, mostly my father's, from which I planned to make a skirt like the one shown. But then I never did do the project. Oh well.

Those eyeglass pouches delight me, and more at my skill level, but the quilts are amazing.

What wonderful, creative ideas. I may need to find a few neckties!

I LOVE that dress! What great ideas. Thanks.

That necktie dress is so fun. My daughter would love that one. It's hard to believe that first handbag is made from just one necktie. Lots of great ideas on reusing neckties. Weekends In Maine
I used to wear ties for several jobs and have a huge collection! I'm reluctant to get rid of them, but had never thought of putting them to use!

Who knew you can do so many things from neckties. Fascinating.
I like the idea of the placemats with the Neckties!

I love the little pouches, I still have one or two of dads ties left, so I might do these for his great grandchildren.
