A - Z : Y = Y-seam

Le cauchemar des quilteurs ! Une couture en Y est nécessaire quand au moins 3 pièces de tissus se rencontrent en une pointe. Ces coutures ont souvent la forme d'un Y, d'où le nom.
The quilters' nightmare! A Y-seam, sometimes called a set-in seam or an inset seam, is necessary when three (or more) pieces of fabric that have angles other than 90 degrees meet at one point. Such seams often form a Y shape, hence the name.

Ces coutures peuvent aussi se faire à la machine.
These Y seam can be sewn by machine too.

The Y seam! exactly what I am working on - so many say you can not do Hexies by machine but if you take your time it works out fine!
That looks more complicated than what I have done with a sewing machine... :D

I haven't tackled Y-seams much! Maybe someday. Thanks for linking up to What I Made Monday.

I remember when Y seams were horrible monsters I hated the very thought of. :) It's funny now, because I have zero problem with them, either by hand or at the machine. I did a king size quilt that had tons of Y seams, and about 1/3 of the way through that, they suddenly clicked so they're a breeze. I'm still waiting for a few quilting techniques to do that same "click" for me. . . :D

Hmm, never realized there was a name for that.

I did hand-sew one tumbling blocks quilt, but in general I avoid Y-seams like the plague!

Y seams are soooo hard! Angles are hard for me, especially trying to make them lay flat, even when ironed!
Yes it looks complicated, but with tutorials, it's easier ;) Still tricky the first time ;P
I do too ;))
Thanks for visiting, and happy quilting !
That's the fun part of the Challenge, visiting blogs ;) And yours is eccentricly cool!
Not a difficult one ;) Sometimes it's just easier to name things, sounds like we tamed them ;P
In quilting, there is always a way to avoid things we don't want to do ;)
Oh yes!! You've found me (and everyone else) a tutorial! Much appreciated :) This is why one should go back and check if they've missed any A to Z posts lol
