J'ai commencé un nouveau quilt que je voulais faire depuis longtemps. Avec François, nous étions allés au Carrefour Européen du Patchwork (oui, mon mari m'accompagne 😊) en septembre 2018 à Ste Marie aux Mines, et c'est lui qui avait flashé sur un quilt exposé. Le patron s'appelle Patio, ou Taking Turns publié dans le magazine Quilts and More en 2012.

I started a new quilt that I've been wanting to make for a long time. With François, we had gone to the European Patchwork Meeting (yes, my husband likes to accompany me 😊) in September 2018 in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines (France), and he was the one who had fallen in love with a quilt on display. The pattern is called Patio, or Taking Turns published in Quilts and More magazine in 2012.

Five years later, I'm getting into it.... Better late than never 😁

Il doit être marron et bleu. 

Ah. 

Voilà pourquoi j'ai tant tardé à le faire : je n'ai pas de tissus qui soient à la fois marron et bleu. Et mon chéri tient à ces couleurs. Soit. Après quelques achats de tissus rayés, à pois, à fleurs, etc., voilà enfin le début de son quilt !

It must be brown and blue. 

Ah. 

That's why it took me so long to make it: I don't have any fabrics that are both brown and blue. And my Darling is very fond of these colors. Well, after a few purchases of striped fabrics, polka dot, floral, etc., here is finally the beginning of his quilt!

J'ai tout coupé d'un coup - ce que je fais rarement - et piécé tout ce qui peut l'être maintenant, en couture à la chaîne. 

Ca fait quand même beaucoup de marron. Pour illuminer l'ensemble, j'ai ajouté un tissu beige, avec des motifs bleus pour rester dans le thème. Plus tard, j'ajouterais un accent : un tissu jaune à parsemer par-ci par-là dans les blocs.

I cut everything off at once - which I rarely do - and pieced everything that can be sewn now, in chain piecing. 

Still, that's a lot of brown. To brighten it up a little, I added a beige fabric, with blue patterns to keep with the theme. Later, I would add an accent: a yellow fabric to sprinkle here and there on the blocks.

Je fais des tests de placement sur mon mur créatif, pour trouver la disposition qui me convienne.

I'm testing the placement on my design wall, to find the layout that pleases me.

🎯 Mon objectif est de coudre au moins 15 minutes, trois fois par semaine.

Je suis la ligne directrice de Kate qui organise "Stitching Stuff", mais je l'adapte à mon rythme de travail et mon temps de loisirs. Merci Kate pour la motivation, une fois assise devant ma machine ces 15 minutes se prolongent souvent, et parfois en heures !

I follow Kate's guideline, who's hosting "Stitching Stuff", but I adapt it to my work pace and leisure time. Thank you Kate for the motivation, once I sit in front of my machine those 15 minutes often extend, and sometimes into hours!
