Mini Quilt Bougie 🔥

Un petit quilt qui réchauffe !

A small quilt that warms up!

Ce mini quilt (22 cm x 30 cm) a été fait en novembre 2019 pour tester l'appliqué vitrail que j'allais proposer en animation à une Journée France Patchwork.

Avec cette même méthode j'ai aussi fait un poinsettia. Et c'est en terminant cet autre petit quilt que je me suis rendue compte que je n'avais jamais fait d'article pour celui-ci ! Voilà donc Mini Quilt Bougie :

This mini quilt (8.5'' x 12'') was made in November 2019 to test the stained glass appliqué I was going to propose as an animation at a Guild Meeting.

Using the same method, I also made a poinsettia. And it was while finishing this other little quilt that I realized I'd never posted about it! So here is Mini Quilt Bougie (Candle):

Le biais noir était fourni aux adhérentes, ainsi que le tissu orange pour la flamme. Un joli tissu soyeux et velouté, parfait pour une flamme, mais glissant et un peu compliqué à coudre !

The black bias was supplied to members, as was the orange fabric for the flame. A lovely silky, velvety fabric, perfect for a flame, but slippery and a bit complicated to sew!

Le quilting est très simple : juste le contour extérieur du biais noir, molleton et top ensemble.

Le tissu du dos a été ajouté ensuite et cousu comme une housse : endroit du tissu du dos contre la bougie, couture autour en laissant une petite ouverture, puis l'ensemble est retourné comme une chaussette et l'ouverture cousue à la main.

Un manchon derrière et le voilà prêt à être suspendu en décoration de Noël, ou autre !

The quilting is very simple: in-the-ditch on the outside of the black bias, batting and top together.

The backing fabric was then added and sewn like a cover: the right side of the backing fabric against the candle, sewing around it leaving a small opening, then the whole thing was turned inside out like a sock and the opening was sewn by hand.

A hanging sleeve behind it and it's ready to hang as a Christmas decoration, or whatever!
