Table Scraps Runner/Topper Challenge

Ouf, dans les temps !
Phew, right on time!

I'm participating in the Table Scrapes Challenge hosted by Joy at The Joyful Quilter. It's about making a table runner, more or less big, more or less small, to the mug rug! And this is a size that suits me 😊.
We also have to follow the color of the month as a participant in the RSC Challenge, and this month it was pink.

I wasn't sure if I could finish this challenge on time, as I only started in the early afternoon today. I had in mind to do a flamingo on my run from the previous mug rug, and then I looked for something simpler, faster to do. And tadaaa! I found this pattern, Woven, that I had put aside to try it out one day.

This block is built with a partial seam, to sew the small grey rectangle in the center.

I followed the steps of this very well done tutorial, and in fact it's logical and easy! The rectangle is half sewn (hence the "partial" seam) at the bottom of the first block, then the other blocks are assembled around the rectangle like a log cabin. To finish, you just have to take the seam from the half of the rectangle, and extend it to the top.

Quilting is very simple: in-the-ditch, then on the strips 1/4'' from the edges.

The binding and the backing are from the same fabric, a madras I found in my stash.

Un challenge amusant !
A fun challenge!

  7. Very nice. I've been seeing mug rugs as the new small project. I may have to attempt one in knitting.
