Cette semaine, il s'agissait de faire un projet en coupe "fussy cut", c'est-à-dire de cibler et couper un motif spécifique d'un tissu afin de le mettre en valeur dans un bloc.

J'ai ce tissu dans mon stock, que j'aime beaucoup.

This week, the idea was to do a "fussy cut" project, i.e. to target and cut a specific pattern from a fabric in order to highlight it in a block.

I have this fabric in my stash, which I like very much.

Ces flamants roses sont amusants, et le tissu est bien imprimé sur l'endroit comme sur l'envers.

These flamingos are fun, and the fabric is well printed on both sides.

Découpe de quelques flamants, avec un gabarit pour centrer le motif.

Cut out a few flamingos, with a template to center the design.

Ca fait des trous, c'est justement ce qui est le plus souvent reproché à cette technique : le gaspillage.

It makes holes, which is precisely what is most often reproached to this technique: the waste of fabric.

Le plus dur a été d'aligner les pattes ! Et il ne faut pas regarder de trop près...

The hardest part was aligning the legs! And do not look too closely...

Et voilà les flamants, pieds dans l'eau. La bande de finition est fine, pour une fois je ne l'ai pas faite double. Le quilting est simple : quelques lignes pour l'eau, le corps des flamants entouré de rose pâle, et du fil gris pour stabiliser les blocs "hors de l'eau".

And here are the flamingos, feet in the water. The binding is narrow, for once I didn't make it double. The quilting is simple: a few lines for the water, the flamingo's body surrounded by pale pink thread, and grey thread to stabilize the blocks "out of the water".
