Quilting Patchwork Appliqué

Réalisation des petites abeilles : Making of the tiny bees: Un corps en feutrine, thermocollé, puis appliqué. A body, made with felt, fused then appliquéd. Quelques brins de coton jaune et les ailes appliquées par-dessus. Et les antennes bien sûr. A few strands of yellow cotton and the wings applied over it. And the antennas of course. Les abeilles sont posées un peu partout, elles vivent leur vie ! Tiny bees land everywhere, they live their lives! C'était mon objectif pour le mois de juin : assembler les lettres ( ici ), faire la ruche ( ici ), et les abeilles ( là ). It was my OMG for June : assemble the letters ( here ), make the beehive ( here ), then the bees ( there ). Le quilt bannière prend forme ! Here is my quilt-banner! Tous les éléments sont là, il ne reste plus qu'un peu d'embellissement. All the blocks are there, it needs just a little bit of embellishment. Des abeilles par exemple ! Bees, for example!

L'Abeille est en place ! Thermocollée, et appliquée. The Bee is in the place! Fused, and appliquéd. Je fais ce projet pour une de mes soeurs, qui est apicultrice en Savoie . Son logo est donc une abeille, logique, mais un peu particulière. C'est un dessin spécialement conçu pour elle, en souvenir des années passées à Raiatea, en Polynésie française. Cette abeille est donc une version polynésienne, inspirée des motifs de tatouages locaux. I'm making this project for one of my sisters,  beekeeper in the East of France . Her logo is therefore a bee, of course, but a little special. It's a bee specially designed for her, in memory of the years spent in Raiatea, French Polynesia. So this bee is a Polynesian version, inspired by local tattoo patterns. Et voilà pour le moment les blocs posés les uns à côté des autres, ça prend forme ! And for now here are the blocks placed next to each other, it takes shape!

Les lettres terminées , c'est au tour de la ruche. Tout en appliqué, et un peu de feutrine pour la porte, cousue à points droits. Finalement j'adore le jaune ! Letters are done, now time to sew the beehive. I appliquéd it, with a little piece of felt for the door, and straight stitches. I love yellow! Ensuite, elle est appliquée sur le fond. Pas complètement en bas, je laisse ouvert au cas où il faille chevaucher un peu le bloc du dessous. Then, the beehive is appliquéd on the background. Not  completely on the bottom, I leave it open in case I will need to overlap a little the bottom block. La couleur réelle est entre ces 2 photos, pas si flashy que la dernière quand même ! The real color is between the two yellows on the photos, the last one is a little too bright!
