J'ai ajouté un poisson multicolore et tactile au tapis d'éveil en cours de réalisation. Le fond rouge est un velours.
I added a multicolored, tactile fish to the play mat I'm making. The red background is velvet.
The fish has a very pronounced 3D effect!
I drew a pattern based on designs I saw online, including the tutorial by Isastuce and the design by FeltKids. It's really just a quick sketch, the lines aren't very straight!
Les écailles sont cousues par rang, sur le corps du poisson. Selon les tissus, les épaisseurs sont importantes !
Tous les tissus du tapis d'éveil se retrouvent dans les écailles du poisson, sauf la toile de jute (1er rang depuis la tête, en haut). Je trouve cette texture intéressante !

Le poisson est très en relief !
The fish has a very pronounced 3D effect!
J'ai dessiné un patron à partir de modèles vus en ligne, notamment le tuto d'Isastuce et le modèle de FeltKids. C'est vraiment un croquis vite fait, les lignes ne sont pas très droites !
The scales ("écaille") are sewn in rows onto the body of the fish. Depending on the fabric, the thicknesses are significant!
Chaque écaille est découpée 2 fois dans le même tissu (sauf la polaire rose avec le velours rouge 👇), cousue endroit contre endroit puis retournée. La base est rentrée en un petit ourlet.
Each scale is cut twice from the same fabric (except for the pink fleece with red velvet 👇), sewn right sides together, then turned inside out. The base is hemmed with a small seam.
All the fabrics used in the play mat can be found in the scales of the fish, except for the burlap (first row from the head, at the top). I find this texture interesting!
La tête et la queue sont en laine, un tissu très doux et de belle qualité que j'avais acheté dans des puces de couturières. L'oeil est en polaire blanche, appliqué à la machine. Pour finir, un ruban argenté cache la liaison tête-corps 👆. Il est cousu à la main côté écailles, ma machine ne voulait pas coudre autant d'épaisseurs !
The head and tail are made of wool, a very soft, high-quality fabric that I bought at a sewing flea market. The eye is made of white fleece, applied by machine. Finally, a silver ribbon hides the connection between the head and body 👆. It is sewn by hand on the scales side, as my sewing machine wouldn't sew through so many layers!
J'ai un peu galéré à coudre les rangs d'écailles, les tissus épais chevauchés font de grosses épaisseurs et ils restent parfois coincés sous l'aiguille 😕. La couture du poisson sur le fond n'a pas été simple non plus : les écailles près du bord ne permettent pas de faire tout le tour du poisson en appliqué machine. J'ai dû faire quelques points à la main, mais je suis assez contente du résultat final. Pas parfait, mais Petit Poisson est terminé !
I had a bit of trouble sewing the rows of scales, as the thick overlapping fabrics create a lot of bulk and sometimes get stuck under the needle 😕. Sewing the fish onto the background wasn't easy either: the scales near the edge meant I couldn't machine appliqué all the way around the fish. I had to do a few stitches by hand, but I'm quite happy with the end result. It's not perfect, but Little Fish is finished!
Short but very satisfying sewing sessions! At work, I'm back with a small team (two colleagues are sick) and have a lot of work to do preparing for the library's move next week.
To relax this weekend, I'll be going to the movies and participating in a championship - but this won't be so relaxing 😉

Suite de ma veille des quilt alongs et autres blocs du mois proposés en ligne en 2026. La semaine dernière j'en ai repéré beaucoup !
Parmi ceux-là il y en a un amusant, Bookish Quilt Club de Gnome Angel. Chaque mois, elle donne des instructions de livres à lire et/ou de blocs à réaliser.
Par exemple pour janvier, les lectures seront le premier livre d'une série (le livre est le premier publié, ou le premier d'une série comprenant au moins deux tomes) ou Summer loving (une grande partie du livre se déroule pendant l'été), et pour le bloc : un tissu (nautique / aquatique : tout ce qui a trait à l'eau. Par exemple : poissons, bateaux, sirènes, pirates, matériel de pêche, plage, coquillages, etc.), une technique (assemblage traditionnel : nous allons découper et coudre un bloc de patchwork traditionnel) et/ou une couleur (rose). Among these, there is a fun one called Bookish Quilt Club by Gnome Angel. Every month, she gives instructions on books to read and/or blocks to make. For example, for January, the readings will be First book in a series (The book is the first released, or first in the canon, of a series with 2 or more in it) or Summer loving (A large portion of the book is set during summer), and for the block, a fabric (Nautical / Aquatic: Anything that has something to do with water. E.g. fish, boats, mermaids, pirates, tackle, beach, shells, etc.), a technique (Traditional Piecing: We’ll cut and sew a traditional patchwork block) and/or a color (pink). The choice is yours!

🎯 Je garde le même objectif cette année : faire de la couture deux jours par semaine, au moins 15 minutes à chaque fois. Je participe ainsi à "Stitching Stuff", organisé par Kate.
C’est un rythme qui me semble raisonnable et qui s’adapte bien à mon travail, aux entraînements sportifs et aux imprévus du quotidien. Toute journée supplémentaire sera du bonus !
🚩⏩ Cette semaine j'ai cousu ③ jours 😋
Sessions de couture courtes, mais très satisfaisantes ! Côté boulot, reprise en petit effectif (2 collègues malades) et gros travail de préparation du déménagement de la bibliothèque la semaine prochaine.
Pour se reposer, ce week-end ce sera ciné et aussi championnat - mais là ce sera moins reposant 😉

🎯 I'm sticking with the same goal this year: sewing two days a week, for at least 15 minutes each time. I'm taking part in "Stitching Stuff" organized by Kate. It's a pace that seems reasonable to me and fits in well with my work, sports training, and the unexpected events of everyday life. Any extra days will be a bonus!
