More noisy items for the play mat: after the star with a squeaky whistle, here comes the mouse rattle. It makes noise, and I'm sure the baby will enjoy it more than the parents 😁
Comme l'étoile, je voulais qu'il soit amovible, il a donc lui aussi un lien avec pression pour l'accrocher et le décrocher du tapis d'éveil. J'ai utilisé le patron et tuto de Crystal de Stitched By Crystal :
Au début je voulais faire une poche pour insérer le hochet, mais finalement un ruban en diagonale du bloc le tiendra mieux et le hochet sera plus facilement détachable. J'aime bien ce ruban rouge avec des pointillés blancs sur les bords ! C'est un des rubans rouges qu'il me reste du projet 70 273.
I didn't have time, between the three-day French shooting championship in North-East of France and resuming supervision of the university library move as soon as I got back!
I didn't make it onto the podium at the championships this year, as adhesive capsulitis in my left shoulder and subacromial impingement in my right shoulder (my shoulders aren't helping me... 😳) have restricted my movements. And then there's another good excuse: moving 40,000 books and dealing with inconsistent architectural plans is no easy task and quite stressful before a sports competition!
On the bright side, the move is almost complete, and the library will open its doors on Monday, February 2 at noon 🎉. The painters will be doing some touch-ups in the morning, working alongside the workers who will be finishing installing the doormat. The computers and Wi-Fi terminals weren't all set up yet on Friday evening, nor were the evacuation plans and fire extinguishers... But it'll be fine!! 😤

Like the star, I wanted it to be removable, so it also has a snap fastener to attach and detach it from the play mat. I used the pattern and tutorial by Crystal from Stitched By Crystal:
Deux brins de DMC noir pour la broderie des yeux, nez et moustaches, voilà le devant prêt à être cousu avec l'arrière du hochet 👇
Two strands of black DMC thread for embroidering the eyes, nose and whiskers, and the front is ready to be sewn to the back of the rattle 👇
J'ai utilisé le même rembourrage doux que pour l'étoile, mais cette fois l'ouverture sur le côté du corps est largement assez grande pour insérer le hochet sans problème ! 😄
I used the same soft stuffing as for the star, but this time the opening on the side of the body is large enough to insert the rattle without any problems! 😄
Petite souris bien rembourrée, hochet bien calé dans la tête, on l'entend bien 😋

Le ruban est cousu aux extrémités, avec une ouverture d'environ 17 cm (6.5'') au centre. Le satin est un carré de 12.5'' (32 cm) de côté.
At first, I wanted to make a pocket to insert the rattle, but in the end, a ribbon diagonally across the block will hold it better and the rattle will be easier to detach. I really like this red ribbon with white dots on the edges! It's one of the red ribbons I have left over from project 70,273.

Suite de ma veille des quilt alongs et autres blocs du mois proposés en ligne en 2026. La semaine dernière j'en ai repéré 12, dont l'adorable Petal & Vine de Colette Belt : seize blocs, chacun représentant une charmante fleur entourée de vignes tourbillonnantes et enroulées.
Continuing my tracking of quilt-alongs and other blocks of the month available online in 2026. Last week I spotted 12, including Colette Belt's adorable Petal & Vine: sixteen blocks, each featuring fanciful flower surrounded by twirling, curling vines.

🎯 Je garde le même objectif cette année : faire de la couture deux jours par semaine, au moins 15 minutes à chaque fois. Je participe ainsi à "Stitching Stuff", organisé par Kate.
C’est un rythme qui me semble raisonnable et qui s’adapte bien à mon travail, aux entraînements sportifs et aux imprévus du quotidien. Toute journée supplémentaire sera du bonus !
🚩⏩ Cette semaine j'ai cousu ⓪ jour
Pas eu le temps, entre le championnat de France de tir sportif sur 3 jours à Besançon et la reprise de la supervision du déménagement de la bibliothèque universitaire dès le retour !
Je ne suis pas sur le podium cette année aux championnats, la capsulite rétractile de l'épaule gauche et le conflit sous-acromial de l'épaule droite (je ne suis pas aidée avec mes épaules... 😳) ont bloqué mes mouvements. Et puis autre bonne excuse, déménager 40 000 livres et gérer des incohérence de plans d'architecte n'est pas de tout repos ni sans stress avant une compétition sportive !
Par contre bonne nouvelle, le déménagement est presque terminé, la bibliothèque ouvrira ses portes lundi 2 février à midi 🎉. Les peintres feront encore quelques retouches le matin, ils travailleront avec les ouvriers qui viendront terminer la pose du paillasson, les ordinateurs et les bornes wifi n'étaient pas encore tous installés vendredi soir, les plans d'évacuation et les extincteurs non plus... Mais ça va le faire !! 😤

🎯 I'm sticking with the same goal this year: sewing two days a week, for at least 15 minutes each time. I'm taking part in "Stitching Stuff" organized by Kate. It's a pace that seems reasonable to me and fits in well with my work, sports training, and the unexpected events of everyday life. Any extra days will be a bonus!
