Objectifs de la semaine / Weekly goals

            👉  terminer le quilting
                    finish quilting

Once the outlines are quilted, you can add a little relief or detail by quilting the squares: see the ideas proposed last week, and the machine quilting made by Marie-Christine and Colette, and hand quilting by Eliane and Djamila:

I used the pebble pattern, to add curves in this very angular quilt and bring out the interlaced pattern:

Motif galets / Pebbles pattern

This kind of pattern requires lowering the sewing machine's feed dogs and putting a special, open foot. The quilt can then slide under the needle in all directions, and you can draw curves, spirals, lines.

Pied ouvert / Darning foot

Get ready: a full bobbin, open foot in place, feed dogs down, and non-slip gloves (gardening type) to grip the quilt and guide it with smooth movements under the needle.

The pattern chosen, reproduce it with a pencil, on a sheet of paper. Drawing allows you to program the movements to fill a surface, to anticipate the round trips, the random shapes, or the regularity of the pattern.

Then, warming up on a quilt sample is often a good idea, to reverse the movement: it is no longer the pencil (the needle) that moves, but the sheet (the quilt).
Repeat the pattern and filling so that the hands make fluid movements, and to test the tension of the threads.

Bon quilting !
 Happy quilting!
