This week I appliqued the large mushroom, using a machine zigzag stitch all around to secure it firmly to the background 👇. The quilting will add a bit of texture later on.

The quilt for François is coming along slowly but surely. I spend a lot of time thinking about this quilt, and that slows down the process! I try to prepare the appliqué pieces in the order I’m going to sew them on, and it’s not always easy or straightforward.

Le quilt pour François avance lentement mais surement. Je passe beaucoup de temps à réfléchi pour ce quilt et ça en ralenti le processus ! J'essaie de préparer les pièces à appliquer dans l'ordre dans lequel je vais les coller, et ce n'est pas toujours simple ni évident.
Cette semaine j'ai appliqué le gros champignon, avec un point zigzag machine tout autour pour bien le fixer sur le fond 👇. Le quilting lui ajoutera un peu de relief plus tard.
Les petits morceaux blancs visibles dans les bandes situées sous le champignon 👆 sont des raccords, utilisés pour ajuster les bandes à la longueur nécessaire. Certains des tissus utilisés sont des fat quarters et non des métrages, il a donc fallu assembler plusieurs bandes pour obtenir les 72'' (183 cm) requis et parfois ça ne suffisait pas ! Bien sûr ces raccords seront recouverts une fois que toutes les pièces appliquées auront été posées.
The small white pieces visible in the strips below the mushroom 👆 are patches used to adjust the strips to the necessary length. Some of the fabrics used are fat quarters rather than yardage, so I had to sew several strips together to reach the required 72'' (183 cm), and sometimes that wasn’t even enough! Of course, these patches will be covered once all the appliqué pieces have been sewn on.

The holidays and long weekends in May are really helping out 😋 I found the white fabric for the background of the Rose quilt - a beautiful, slightly satiny white - so the rose should really stand out. I think I’ll start this quilt this week. Maybe. I’m overthinking this one too! I’m still torn between doing the appliqué by hand or by machine...

🎯 Je garde le même objectif cette année : faire de la couture deux jours par semaine, au moins 15 minutes à chaque fois. Je participe ainsi à "Stitching Stuff", organisé par Kate. C’est un rythme qui me semble raisonnable et qui s’adapte bien à mon travail, aux entraînements sportifs et aux imprévus du quotidien.
Si j'en ai l'occasion, je ferais une liste de priorités à réaliser d'ici la semaine prochaine, et participer ainsi à "To Do Tuesday" organisé par Carol.
🚩⏩ Cette semaine j'ai cousu ③ jours
Les jours fériés et les ponts du mois de mai aident bien 😋 J'ai trouvé le tissu blanc pour le fond du quilt Rose, un beau blanc un peu satiné, la rose devrait bien ressortir. Je pense commencer ce quilt cette semaine. Peut-être. Pour celui-ci aussi je réfléchis trop ! J'hésite encore à faire les appliqués à la main ou à la machine...

Past week's numbers and projections for the coming week:
🎯 I'm sticking with the same goal this year: sewing two days a week, for at least 15 minutes each time. I'm taking part in "Stitching Stuff" organized by Kate. It's a pace that seems reasonable to me and fits in well with my work, sports training, and the unexpected events of everyday life.
If I get the chance, I’ll make a list of priorities to tackle by next week, and that way take part in "To Do Tuesday" organized by Carol. 🚩⏩ This week I sewed ③ days
