Le Challenge des Livres Oubliés est lancé ! Le principe est simple : il s'agit de choisir un livre qui dort sur nos étagères et qui n'a pas été ouvert depuis longtemps, et de réaliser un projet de ce livre. Plus le livre est vieux, mieux c'est ! Ca peut aussi être un magazine.
The Forgotten Books Challenge is on! The idea is simple: pick a book that’s been sitting on your shelf and hasn’t been opened in ages, and create a project based on it. The older the book, the better! It can also be a magazine.

J'ai choisi un des vieux livres de ma bibliothèque - celui-ci a été publié en 1984 ! - qui m'accompagnera pour le Challenge. Je l'ai depuis 2019 et je n'ai encore fait aucun de ses modèles. Il est temps !
Voilà A Garden of Quilts, de Mary Elizabeth Johnson :
I picked out one of the older books from my bookshelf - this one was published in 1984! - to go with the Challenge. I’ve had it since 2019 and haven’t made any of the patterns in it yet. It’s about time!

En le feuilletant, j'ai redécouvert le modèle de rose 👇 que je me souviens avoir déjà repéré, il y a bien longtemps. C'est de l'appliqué, je ne sais pas encore si je le ferais à la main ou cousu machine. A voir !
Et voici mon choix de tissu.
As I was flipping through it, I rediscovered the rose pattern 👇 that I remember having spotted a long time ago. It’s an appliqué design; I’m not sure yet whether I’ll do it by hand or sew it on the machine. We’ll see!
Ah tiens, j'ai oublié le tissu de fond, blanc 😏
And here’s the fabric I chose.
Oh wait, I forgot to pull the white background fabric 😏
J'ai agrandi le patron à la dimension voulue (ce sera un petit quilt de moins d'un mètre de large), il ne reste plus qu'à trouver un joli tissu blanc pour le fond, et c'est parti !
I've scaled up the pattern to the desired size (it'll be a small quilt less than 39'' wide); now all I need to do is find a nice white fabric for the background, and I'm good to go!

J'ai avancé sur la découpe des pièces appliquées, pour le quilt pour François. Le deuxième gros champignon du quilt prend forme doucement, la pièce blanche représente quelque chose comme le 1/4 de la hauteur totale.
I've made progress on cutting out the appliqué pieces for François's quilt. The second large mushroom on the quilt is slowly taking shape; the white piece is about a quarter of the total height.
Les pièces sont découpées dans du thermocollant et disposées sur l'envers des tissus. Peut-être faites-vous autrement et que vous encollez une plaque avec les formes tracées plutôt que des petits morceaux prédécoupés, mais j'ai dû procéder ainsi pour optimiser les motifs de tissu, un bleu notamment imprimé en bandes.

The pieces are cut out of iron-on interfacing and placed on the wrong side of the fabric. Perhaps you do it differently and glue a sheet with the shapes traced on it rather than using small pre-cut pieces, but I had to do it this way to make the most of the fabric patterns, particularly a blue one that’s printed in stripes.

🎯 Je garde le même objectif cette année : faire de la couture deux jours par semaine, au moins 15 minutes à chaque fois. Je participe ainsi à "Stitching Stuff", organisé par Kate. C’est un rythme qui me semble raisonnable et qui s’adapte bien à mon travail, aux entraînements sportifs et aux imprévus du quotidien.
Si j'en ai l'occasion, je ferais une liste de priorités à réaliser d'ici la semaine prochaine, et participer ainsi à "To Do Tuesday" organisé par Carol.

La semaine dernière j'ai livré 2 tabliers, pour ma soeur et pour ma mère, et voilà celui que ma maman porte fièrement 💓
To-do liste de la semaine :
📍Trouver un tissu blanc pour le fond du quilt Rose du challenge
📍Je vais faire une pause dans la découpe des pièces appliquées du quilt pour François, et continuer à coudre le 1er gros champignon sur le fond : les contours et l'intérieur.
Past week's numbers and projections for the coming week:
🎯 I'm sticking with the same goal this year: sewing two days a week, for at least 15 minutes each time. I'm taking part in "Stitching Stuff" organized by Kate. It's a pace that seems reasonable to me and fits in well with my work, sports training, and the unexpected events of everyday life.
If I get the chance, I’ll make a list of priorities to tackle by next week, and that way take part in "To Do Tuesday" organized by Carol. 🚩⏩ This week I sewed ② days
