Comme je vous le disais la semaine derniÚre, je suis allée à ma premiÚre Journée d'Amitié de France Patchwork Hérault. Et c'était super ! Voilà un aperçu des travaux de notre professeure du jour, Anne-Marie Massotte, et de la technique que nous avons travaillé.

As I told you last week, I went to my first local Guild Meeting. And it was fantastic! Here's a glimpse of our teacher of the day's work, Anne-Marie Massotte, and the technique we worked on.

C'est une technique d'appliqué inversé, à la machine, qui permet grùce à la superposition de tissus, de créer de vrais tableaux. Anne-Marie s'inspire d'oeuvres, d'images vues sur Internet, elle les retravaille, et les adapte à sa méthode. Elle ajoute parfois un peu de peinture, comme ici une touche de jaune vif dans ce ciel :
It's a reverse appliqué technique, using a sewing machine to layer fabrics and create real paintings. Anne-Marie draws her inspiration from works of art, images seen on the Internet, reworking them and adapting them to her method. She sometimes adds a little paint, like here, a touch of bright yellow in this sky:

Le tissu blanc est découpé pour laisser apparaßtre celui de couleur qui est dessous et qui a été préalablement cousu au point de zigzag ou de satin.
A nous de travailler ! Nous avons choisi un modÚle parmi ceux proposés par Anne-Marie, et nous avons suivi ses instructions sous son oeil attentif.
The white fabric is cut to reveal the colored fabric underneath, which has been sewn in zigzag or satin stitch.
Let's get to work! We chose a pattern from among those proposed by Anne-Marie, and followed her instructions under her watchful eye.
I didn't quite know how to set up my little machine, and it was with the buttonhole stitch that I sewed the zigzags đ. Hence the missed turns, the needle was way off to the left, and never where I expected it đ

I discovered a very welcoming, friendly and dynamic group. Several quilters were very interested in the partnership with the neonatal unit at Montpellier Hospital. Thank you for your welcome and your enthusiasm, ladies!

đŻ Mon objectif est de coudre au moins 15 minutes, trois fois par semaine.
Je suis la ligne directrice de Kate qui organise "Stitching Stuff", mais je l'adapte Ă mon rythme de travail et mon temps de loisirs. Merci Kate pour la motivation, une fois assise devant ma machine ces 15 minutes se prolongent souvent, et parfois en heures !

I follow Kate's guideline, who's hosting "Stitching Stuff", but I adapt it to my work pace and leisure time. Thank you Kate for the motivation, once I sit in front of my machine those 15 minutes often extend, and sometimes into hours!

Anne-Marie's work is so striking. I am glad that you got to attend a class in person. I love the Surf Blue leaves peeking from behind the white surface. Thank you for sharing!
