I'm so pleased to meet you! I'm Frédérique, a French girl (well, when we reach 48 years old, are we still a girl? Hmmm...), living in North-East of France. I'm a teacher, a trainer of trainers.
Ravie de vous rencontrer ! Je suis Frédérique, 48 ans (bigre, déjà...), installée dans le Grand-Est. Je suis enseignante, formatrice de formateurs.

Bonjour ! C'est moi ;-)

My hometown is in the Alps, but I used to travel a lot, sometimes during long periods. I visit US and Canada for 6 years, traveling with a sailboat, and for 6 months with an RV across the country, visiting nearly all the National Parks! It's where I learnt to quilt.
Je suis originaire de Savoie, mais beaucoup de voyages m'ont permis de visiter des bouts du monde, dont les Etats-Unis et le Canada, en voilier pendant 6 ans, et en camping-car pendant 6 mois. C'est là que j'ai appris le quilting.

All began in Tahiti, French Polynesia. I was living there and took interest at the local patchwork, the tifaifai. An art which fascinated me, by the beauty of the patterns, inspired by local fauna and flora, and the meticulous hand stitching. In 2005, I made a tifaifai pa'oti: 2 large pieces of fabric sewn together in applique.
Tout à commencé à Tahiti, en Polynésie française où j'ai habité plusieurs années. Le patchwork local, le tifaifai, est un art qui me fascine, par la beauté des motifs largement inspirés de la faune et de la flore locales, et la confection manuelle minutieuse. En 2005, j'ai fait un tifaifai pa'oti : 2 grandes pièces de tissus cousues l'une sur l'autre, selon la technique de l'appliqué.

After that, we visited Hawaiian Islands, Washington State, British Columbia, California, so many inspiring places for quilting! Quilt shops and classes, libraries full of wonderful books, I was delighted! I learned how to appliqué, to piece, to quilt, the traditional and modern way.

Ensuite nous avons visité Hawaï, l'Etat de Washington, la Colombie Britannique (Canada), la Californie, autant d'endroits inspirants ! Boutiques de quilts et cours de quilting, bibliothèques pleines de livres merveilleux, j'étais ravie ! J'ai appris l'appliqué, le piécé, le quilting, le patch traditionnel et moderne.

At the beginning I had very few space inside the sailboat for quilting, but now I'm living in a house, with my sewing studio! Much more convenient ;)

Au début j'avais peu d'espace dans le bateau pour coudre, mais maintenant que je suis dans une maison, j'ai mon petit studio ! Bien plus pratique ;-)

Since 2005, I made some quilts, all given to friends and family! I started a blog then, for keeping a record of all of them. This one, Celtic, was given to my mother-in-law in 2007, and I love to see it on her wall!

Depuis 2005, j'ai réalisé quelques quilts, tous donnés aux amis et à la famille! J'ai commencé un blog à cette époque pour tenir un journal de mes patch. Celui-ci, Celtique, a été offert à ma belle-mère, et j'adore le revoir sur son mur !

I'm not a super productive quilter, I made few quilts, but very often only one or two at once. Very few work in progress left aside and forgotten!
I love to learn new techniques, and recently:

• I learned to bind a quilt by machine (I love it!)
• I practiced pebbles, a free motion quilting design, with my domestic sewing machine (a Pfaff Ambition 1.0)

Je ne suis pas du genre à produire beaucoup de quilts, j'en ai relativement peu fait, mais très souvent un ou deux maximum à la fois. Très peu d'en cours non achevés et oubliés !
J'aime apprendre de nouvelles techniques, et récemment :

• j'ai appris à coudre la bande de finition entièrement à la machine (j'adore !)
• le motif de quilting libre nommé galets n'a plus de secret pour moi ! Je quilte avec ma machine à coudre, une Pfaff Ambition 1.0
