Calcul des sashings, et triangles d'angle et de côté / Arithmetic for sashings, corner and side triangles
Un peu de maths est malheureusement nécessaire ! Il s’agit de calculer la taille des pièces qui vont être ajoutées autour des blocs.

Arithmetic is very useful! You need to calculate the size of the pieces added around the blocks.
A : largeur voulue + marges de couture (¼'' + ¼'') ; longueur = bloc fini + marges (½'')
A : width wanted + seam allowance (½''); length = finished block size + seam allowance (½'')
B : largeur voulue + marges (½'') ; longueur = bloc fini + A fini + marges (attention, 3 longueurs différentes, voir la grille)
B : width wanted + seam allowance (½'') ; length = finished bock size + finished A + seam allowance (be careful, 3 different sizes, see the grid)
Important: the pieces at the edges of a quilt must be cut on the straight of grain, to avoid stretching and disturbing the edges. This is available for side ("triangle de côté") and corner triangles ("triangle d'angle").

So, for 4 corner triangles, I will cut two 12 ¼'' squares.

Une règle importante : les pièces qui encadrent le quilt doivent être découpées dans le droit-fil, pour rigidifier l’ensemble et éviter que les bords ne se déforment. Je coupe donc 2 carrés de 31 cm x 31 cm pour obtenir les 4 triangles d'angle.
