New month, new color: it's red for July. Red like BBQ burning coals, sunburns, strawberries and cherries!
I thought I may have a lot of red scraps, finally I have few of them.
Ah, next purchase will be red fabrics ;)
I found five different fabrics to make a birdhouse. The center is not grey, but a very pale green-blue, used for the block of June.
Red is also one of our French flag color, and as it's our National Day, Happy 14th of July everybody!
Défilé sur les Champs Elysées
Military parade on the Champs Elysées
La Patrouille de France
The planes of the Patrouille de France
Feux d'artifices de la Tour Eiffel
Fireworks over the Eiffel Tower
This month, to reach my goal, I planned to sew two more red blocks, but also the two missing blocks of June, teal...
- Update July 15th: France won Soccer World Cup!! We are the Champions ;))

That's a fine birdhouse. I notice it's waiting for an inhabitant. It's going to look great with the blue and green and maybe even the teal. Can't wait to see the end result.
RépondreSupprimerThese bird house blocks are fun. You will have a very nice quilt at the end of the process.
RépondreSupprimerSuch a fun and unique scrap design. I'm looking forward to seeing all of your birdhouses together. It will make a very colorful bird house community! :)
RépondreSupprimerGorgeous log cabin birdhouse! I mlm love it and I love the reds you chose.
RépondreSupprimerI really love the log cabin birdhouse! Great fabrics too! Is there a pattern for this?
RépondreSupprimerThank you Brenda! It's a log cabin pattern, I was inspired by a mini quilt made by Judith (http://justjude-designs.com/) but she has no pattern for sale.
SupprimerI made my own and a wonky one: https://quiltingpatch.blogspot.com/2018/01/rainbow-quilt-more-scraps.html, tell me if you want me to send you a pdf file.
What cute birdhouses!!! I'm a bit low on reds, too. Must keep that in mind at the quilt shop next time!
RépondreSupprimerHappy National Day! Love the cute little birdhouse!

RépondreSupprimerI love your red birdhouse - lots of fun color! You may have told us, but I don't remember - are your birdhouses paper pieced?
RépondreSupprimerThank You Diann!
SupprimerYes they are paper pieced, even the wonky pattern :))
Pretty birdhouse. I have fond memories from visiting France when I was a teenager - great memories of the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elyeese.
RépondreSupprimerIt's always fun to see a new birdhouse! I'll take red in all the colors you mentioned except for sunburn red!!
RépondreSupprimerHappy 14th of July!
First, happy July 14th! Second, I adore your beautiful and yet cute birdhouses. I went on a rabbit trail looking through your blog for a pattern. I saw that you got an idea for your wonky birdhouse from an improv book. Then I noticed that you gave Judith credit for giving you inspiration and I looked at her blog and did not see a birdhouse. So, is there a place that I can find the paper piecing pattern for this block. My son is getting full custody of his 12 year old son next week and I think a quilt is in order for my grandson. I think a quilt of birdhouses in many of his favorite colors would be fun for him. Maybe it wouldn't be too feminine for him. I'll have to discuss it with his dad, of course and see what he thinks. I don't want to put lots of time and effort into something my grandson will not like. Thanks for sharing your beautiful work. Susan
RépondreSupprimerHi Suze, great news, Judith gave me the permission to post the pattern I made inspired by her mini!

RépondreSupprimerYour birdhouse block is so cute - I love the way it is made with all those red strips. Your July 14th celebration looks like it was a lot of fun. The pic of the fireworks over the Eiffel Tower is perfect! Thanks for linking to Main Crush Monday!
RépondreSupprimerYour sweet birdhouse made me think of the red flowers that recently started to bloom in our garden. Many Congratulations to France for the World Cup Win!! Well deserved :)
