Well, that didn't go amiss: I calculated everything correctly, but then at the last minute I changed a parameter, and bam, nothing would work anymore... 😶
Well, 16“ instead of 28” is a bit short... In metric it's not much better: 40.5 cm instead of 70! (My rulers are in inch and I learned quilting using the imperial system, hence the conversions)
However, it's true that it's a fast and fun method!
I could have added borders all around to make it bigger, but this center is definitely too small. I decided to continue adding strips.
According to the Jelly Roll Race principle, the large strip sewn onto itself gives two long rows, which will produce four shorter rows, then eight, then 16, and so on. I needed six rows: four made with this principle, and two isolated rows.
Can you find my little center in all these new rows? 👆

Yes, it looks odd, but let me explain...
Au départ, le Jelly Roll Race Quilt est extrêmement simple, j'en ai raconté le principe la semaine dernière, il suffit de coudre bout à bout toutes les bandes, puis les replier et les coudre. Bref, simple et rapide.

Et bien ça n'a pas manqué, j'ai tout bien calculé mais ensuite au dernier moment j'ai changé un paramètre, et paf, plus rien ne fonctionne... 😶

Voilà, 16'' au lieu de 28'', c'est un peu court... En système métrique c'est guère mieux : 40,5 cm au lieu de 70 ! (mes règles sont en inch et j'ai appris le quilting en utilisant le système impérial, d'où les conversions)
Par contre c'est vrai que c'est rapide et amusant comme méthode !

J'aurais pu ajouter des bordures tout autour pour l'agrandir, mais ce centre est quand même trop petit. J'ai décidé de continuer à ajouter des bandes.
Selon le principe du Jelly Roll Race, la grande bande cousue sur elle-même donne 2 longs rangs, qui produiront 4 rangs plus courts, puis 8, puis 16, etc. J'avais besoin de 6 rangs : 4 faits avec ce principe, et 2 rangs isolés.
Est-ce que vous retrouvez mon petit centre dans tous ces nouveaux rangs ? 👆

C'est très bien tout ça, mon quilt a pris de la hauteur, mais il est censé être carré 🔲... Hum, voyons pour ajouter de la largeur.
Et là je ne sais pas trop comment j'ai calculé le nombre de bandes à coudre les unes aux autres, toujours est-il qu'une fois repliées, cousues, repliées, cousues, etc., la hauteur est bonne, mais pas la largeur 😬.
Voilà voilà, quand je vous disais, les maths et moi... 💣👹

Même si la largeur n'est pas la bonne, le centre est maintenant suffisamment grand pour être complété avec des bordures. Que sur les côtés du coup, puisque la hauteur est correcte... 👆
Je ne suis pas sure que ce petit top me plaise vraiment, il est trop chaotique. J'aimais bien la version avec les carrés de couleur contrastée, mais je les trouve trop présents pour des bandes si courtes.
Peut-être ce top sera-t-il encore modifié... ✂️
Even if the width isn't right, the center is now large enough to be completed with borders. Only on the sides, since the height is correct... 👆
I'm not sure I really like this little top, it's too chaotic. I liked the version with accent squares, but I find them too overwhelming for such short strips.
Maybe this top will be modified again... ✂️

🎯 J'ai modifié mon objectif cette année : je me fixe deux jours de couture par semaine, pendant au moins 15 minutes, et je participe à "Stitching Stuff", organisé par Kate. C'est moins ambitieux que les 3 jours de l'an passé, mais c'est bien plus raisonnable et surtout réaliste. Toute journée supplémentaire sera du bonus !
🠞 Cette semaine j'ai cousu ⓪ jours. Ce petit top a été fait la semaine dernière 😁. Pas de couture, par contre j'ai eu l'occasion - enfin - d'écrire l'article sur la réalisation de mon Baby Bear quilt. Il sera en ligne jeudi 🧸

🎯 I've modified my goal this year: I'm setting myself two days of sewing a week, for at least 15 minutes, and I'm taking part in "Stitching Stuff", organized by Kate. It's not as ambitious as last year's 3 days, but it's much more reasonable and, above all, realistic. Any extra day will be a bonus!
🠞 This week I sewed ⓪ days. This small top was made last week 😁 No sewing, but I finally had time to write a post about making my Baby Bear quilt. It will be online on Thursday 🧸

Je suis en train de reprendre mes projets non terminés car je ne savais pas quoi faire pour les transformer pour des enfants hospitalisés. La redécouverte donne finalement de bonnes surprises.
