Lecture / Reading books

Lecture de livres de quilting bien sûr.
Reading quilting books of course.

I started my holidays and readings with "15 minutes of play" by Victoria Findlay Wolfe. As the subtitle said, it's about improvisational quilts.

I loved this book, Victoria explain her creative process and give a lot of photo examples.
For her, 15 minutes per day (but you can do more) are necessary to create, and sew what she call "made-fabric": improvisationally pieced fabric, then cut into geometric shapes to make improved blocks.

She gives 11 challenges to get going, like make a quilt entirely with clothing, mix up new blocks with old one, or use fabric you don't think you can use. A lot of great opportunities to play!

  1. I have that book too and "made" some fabric and did a cute large hexie table topper once with it

  2. I’ll have to take a look at this book. I enjoy some improvisational piecing, but get frustrated after awhile and tuck it all away. This book might get me over that hump.

Bisous. J'espère que les vacances démarrent bien :-)

  5. Improve can be fun because it sets you free but completing a project takes significantly longer because you have to decide your own boundaries. What will you make?
