Après de longues minutes (heures ? 😳) de réflexion, j'ai finalement décidé de ne pas coudre les appliqués. Pas encore. Pour le moment ils sont fixés au fer chaud avec du thermocollant double face, qui tient très bien. Par contre François - à qui est destiné ce quilt - voulait absolument que je rajoute les jacinthes d'eau qui sont au premier plan, au ras du chemin. Bon.

Après de longues minutes (heures ? 😁) de réflexion, à tourner le problème de réalisation dans tous les sens, j'ai finalement décidé de thermocoller un fond gris foncé, et d'y répartir de petites formes découpées dans une bande de tissu jaune (avec du thermocollant au dos). Voilà où j'en suis pour le moment :

For now, they are fused with Steam-a-Seam which is double-sided and holds very well. However, François - for whom this quilt is intended - absolutely wanted me to add the water hyacinths that are in the foreground, right next to the path. I hope the quilting will make the whole piece look more cohesive.
Avec ce projet qui demande de coudre pas mal d'appliqués, je me suis rendue compte que le pied de ma machine à coudre n'est pas suffisamment ouvert. Celui que j'utilise le plus est le modèle 1/4 d'inch, qui est transparent au centre et paraît parfait en toutes circonstances. Mais ces derniers temps j'ai regretté de ne pas avoir une plus large visibilité autour et devant l'aiguille.
With this project, which involves sewing quite a few appliqués, I realized that my sewing machine’s presser foot isn’t wide enough. The one I use most often is the 1/4-inch model, which is transparent in the center and seems perfect for any situation. But lately, I've been wishing I had a wider view around and in front of the needle.
So earlier this week, I bought this open-toe appliqué foot 9 mm, and while I was at it, I restocked my supply of bobbins. Then, while browsing the site, I saw this small tailor’s clapper 😍 Well, there you go, I finally gave in, since I’ve been telling myself for so long that it would be nice to have one!!

Alors en début de semaine j'ai acheté ce pied application très ouvert (9 mm) et pendant que j'y étais, j'ai refait un petit stock de canettes. Et puis en parcourant le site, je suis tombée sur ce clapper de tailleur petit format 😍 Et ben voilà, j'ai fini par craquer, depuis le temps que je me dis que ça pourrait être bien d'en avoir un !!

Stats de la semaine écoulée, et projection pour la suivante :
🎯 Je garde le même objectif cette année : faire de la couture deux jours par semaine, au moins 15 minutes à chaque fois. Je participe ainsi à "Stitching Stuff", organisé par Kate. C’est un rythme qui me semble raisonnable et qui s’adapte bien à mon travail, aux entraînements sportifs et aux imprévus du quotidien.
Si j'en ai l'occasion, je ferais une liste de priorités à réaliser d'ici la semaine prochaine, et participer ainsi à "To Do Tuesday" organisé par Carol.
🚩⏩ Cette semaine j'ai cousu ② jours.

📍Quilt rose : réfléchir aux bordures
📍Quilt de François : continuer à construire les jacinthes d'eau
📍Nouveau projet pour une "valise" France Patchwork : terminer de dessiner et préparer le projet de petit quilt (30 x 40 cm) sur le thème des poissons
Past week's numbers and projections for the coming week:
🎯 I'm sticking with the same goal this year: sewing two days a week, for at least 15 minutes each time. I'm taking part in "Stitching Stuff" organized by Kate. It's a pace that seems reasonable to me and fits in well with my work, sports training, and the unexpected events of everyday life.
If I get the chance, I’ll make a list of priorities to tackle by next week, and that way take part in "To Do Tuesday" organized by Carol. 🚩⏩ This week I sewed ② days.

📍Rose quilt: think about the borders
📍Quilt for François: keep making water hyacinths
📍New guild project: continue working on the small quilt project (12'' x 16'') with a fish theme.
