Cette semaine j'ai pu avancer sur mon projet d'appliqué, et je suis plutôt contente du chemin parcouru ! Toutes les pièces rose foncé ont été cousues. Point de feston à la machine, avec du fil assorti. Oui, il reste une épingle : je pense qu'une pièce rose clair viendra se positionner légèrement en dessous à cet endroit, donc je préfère attendre que tout soit positionné avant de la coudre définitivement.
This week I was able to make progress on my appliqué project, and I’m pretty happy with how far I have come! All the dark pink pieces have been sewn on. I used a machine-sewn blanket stitch with matching thread. Yes, there’s still a pin there: I think a light pink piece will go slightly below that spot, so I’d rather wait until everything is in place before sewing it down for good.
My goal for the week was to "prepare the pale pink pieces and add them to the other appliqué pieces. Maybe start sewing them on?" Well, it’s done! At least partly 😇. All the light pink pieces have been notched around the freezer paper, and the edges have been folded over and pressed with an iron.

The rose is gradually taking shape.
I think this blanket stitch is perfect for this design: it adds a pretty finish that goes well with the flower. But for the quilt I’m making for François, I think I will go with a straight stitch instead. And no, I haven’t forgotten about that project, I will pick it back up as soon as I get rid of all the pink thread on my machine. In the meantime, let’s stick with pink for a little while longer 🌸

Mon objectif de la semaine était de "préparer les pièces rose pâle et les ajouter aux autres appliqués. Peut-être commencer à les coudre ?". Et bien, c'est fait ! Du moins en partie 😇. Toutes les pièces rose clair sont crantées autour du papier cuisson, et les bords repliés et marqués au fer.
All that is left is to position them, using the light table...
... et moult épingles ! Ce tissu est fin et les ourlets ne restent pas en place.
Les épingles ont une tête un peu grosses et gênent parfois pour la couture, mais par contre elles sont extra-fines et traversent toutes les épaisseurs comme dans du beurre, sans rien déplacer.
... and lots of pins! This fabric is thin, and the hems won't stay in place.
The pins have slightly large heads and sometimes get in the way when sewing, but on the other hand, they are extra-thin and go through all the layers like butter, without moving anything out of place.
La rose s'habille petit à petit.
Je me dis que ce point de feston est parfait pour ce modèle : il apporte une jolie finition qui va bien avec la fleur. Mais pour le quilt que je prépare pour François, je pense que je préférerai un point droit. Et non, je n'ai pas oublié ce projet, je le reprendrais dès qu'il n'y aura plus de fil rose sur ma machine. En attendant, place au rose, encore un peu 🌸

Stats de la semaine écoulée, et projection pour la suivante :
🎯 Je garde le même objectif cette année : faire de la couture deux jours par semaine, au moins 15 minutes à chaque fois. Je participe ainsi à "Stitching Stuff", organisé par Kate. C’est un rythme qui me semble raisonnable et qui s’adapte bien à mon travail, aux entraînements sportifs et aux imprévus du quotidien.
Si j'en ai l'occasion, je ferais une liste de priorités à réaliser d'ici la semaine prochaine, et participer ainsi à "To Do Tuesday" organisé par Carol.

Plus qu'une semaine de travail ! Ces prochains jours seront encore bien chargés et ensuite... VACANCES !! 🎉

🎯 I'm sticking with the same goal this year: sewing two days a week, for at least 15 minutes each time. I'm taking part in "Stitching Stuff" organized by Kate. It's a pace that seems reasonable to me and fits in well with my work, sports training, and the unexpected events of everyday life.
If I get the chance, I’ll make a list of priorities to tackle by next week, and that way take part in "To Do Tuesday" organized by Carol. 🚩⏩ This week I sewed ② days
